Crofty’s On The Rise
Today was an excellent opportunity for me to take my mixing and mastering skills to the next level and I must say I am very proud of my achievement. I attended one of my audio engineering classes at Positive Youth Foundation and began my lesson as usual honing the basic skills of mixing and mastering. A seasoned engineer by the name of Crofty was teaching some industry tricks as he has worked with many big names prior. After some back and forth teaching, we decided to take my skills to the test and attempted to mix a new form of music. We were going to use Antares Wave plug-ins to produce a smooth auto tune voice. To do this as usual, I EQ’ed the vocals, added my Compressor and DeEsser followed by my Limiter. However, when I was using the auto tune plug-in I must admit I struggled to get the hang of it at first. After understanding that it was very much theoretical and being someone that can play the piano, it instantly kicked and I was able to work out the key of the beat and match the auto tune to the key he would be singing in. Here is the end result!
